    Description

1980 Yamaha QT50 Engine cylinder, OEM
This cylinder is in usable condition. OEM is made from cast iron using with chromed cylinder wall. Not cut from an aluminum billet
There are millions of cheaply made copies made from aluminum on the market. The cost is low but the two metals have a different wear properties.
You MAY find yourself in a similar situation within a year or so using the aluminum copy. I have tried an aluminum replacement and it lasted seven months before the compression dropped out again.
This cylinder has some shadows and a couple small striations. Nothing that you can feel with the fingernail. The hole measured out OK. In fact you can see the ridge at the top. No excessive wear.
I wouldn't be afraid to install this using a standard size piston and ring set.

The Yamaha QT50 Yamahopper is a moped produced by the Yamaha Motor Company from 1979 through 1992. The name was derived from it being promoted by Hopalong Cassidy.
QT50s were popular in the late 1970s and 1980s because of their ease of use and maintenance, extreme fuel efficiency, and legality in most U.S. states among pre-driving-age teenagers.
Vintage mopeds are enjoying a resurgence in popularity due to their fuel efficiency and nostalgic appeal.
The Yamahopper is not really a scooter, as the QT50 has no fairing, sports footpegs rather than footboards, and its two-stroke reed valve engine is slung beneath the monotube frame motorcycle-style.
The QT50 closely resembles contemporary mopeds, but without the bicycle pedals typical to the class, leading some to refer to such vehicles as "nopeds."
Yamahopper has an approximate top speed of 30 mph in stock form, and thus can be used for city driving.
